Engineering and Engineering Technology Career Fair sells out (again)

10/10/2019

This Tuesday, engineering and engineering tech students put on interview attire, printed out resumes, and headed to the to the Student Union for the Engineering and Engineering Technology Career Fair. Their goal was to learn more about available co-op or full-time positions and meet representatives from companies looking to hire the best in engineering talent.

Organized by the Engineering Co-op and Placement Department, this week’s event was the largest fair in its 27-year history. This year, 196 companies participated and 1,625 students attended.

Companies from as far away as Monolith Materials in Nebraska to Colonial Pipeline in Georgia were in attendance, along with local greats Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, PCC Airfoils, and GPD Group to name a few. Representatives talked with students and gave on-the-spot interviews.

“Industry interest in this event is huge,” says Stephanie Schindewolf, director of the co-op and placement program. “Space sells out months in advance and we even ended up with 52 companies on our waitlist! They cannot hire our students fast though our students are that good.”

Waitlisted companies will be invited to come to the College this fall to talk to students and discuss career opportunities.

The next Engineering and Engineering Technology Career Fair will be held on February 11, 2020.
