Congratulations to Dr. Julie Y. Zhao for her selection to the new class for Leadership Akron. Zhao is director of the IDEAS (Increasing Diversity in Engineering Academics) program in the College of Engineering.
Through Leadership Akron, Zhao and the other participants will develop a well-rounded perspective of the community, setting the stage for further involvement as civic leaders.
The class will spend a full day each month focusing on a specific aspect of the community. Topics include Social Services, Health Care, Education and Justice, among others. Each session will give the class a hands-on look at the key organizations, decision-makers and issues in that field.
