UA engineering students tour Swagelok, learn about co-op opportunities

More than a dozen engineering students and their parents were invited to Swagelok this week to tour the company’s facilities, meet with members of leadership and learn about co-op and internship opportunities. Many of the students who were in attendance are recipients of scholarships provided by the company as well as Mr. and Mrs. Arthur F. Anton.

“This opportunity is another example of Swagelok leadership recognizing the importance of investing in students,” says Ellen Perduyn, University of Akron Assistant Vice President, Corporate and Foundation Relations. "Their great partnership further strengthens the College of Engineering in its mission to educate and graduate career-ready engineers.”

The Lennon Trust, named in honor of Swagelok founder Fred A. Lennon, has presented scholarships to UA engineering since 2011. Swagelok Engineering Scholarships, which provide recipients up to $3,000 a year and are renewable for one year, are geared to attract and retain Honors students majoring in engineering. In addition, Swagelok CEO Mr. Art Anton and wife Carol Anton established The Arthur F. and Carol M. Anton Scholarship Fund for the purpose of attracting highly-qualified students from ethnically underrepresented groups to The University of Akron to study engineering. A student awarded with an Anton Scholarship will be provided with up to $6,000 during their first year at The University of Akron, also renewable for an additional year.
